THE HISTORY OF INDIAN RIVER BAPTIST CHURCH

In 2001 it was evident that the Lord was leading a small group of believers in Edgewater Florida to start a Independent Bible Believing Baptist Church. After much prayer and faith, Indian River Baptist Church was born in one families living room with the help and advice of Godly people.

As the Scripture says in Hebrews 11:6, "But without faith, it is impossible to please him." So this group of believers stepped out on faith with the sole purpose of uplifting the name of Christ and in turn, pleased God and experienced His blessing. Shortly after that first service, the church called its first pastor, Gary Satterfield. Bro. Satterfield was a true blessing to the church until the Lord called him to another place of service. For several years, the group would rent buildings for services as the church continued to grow. However, in 2001, the church was able to purchase the current property on US 1 in Edgewater. Since then, the church has grown in number and in spiritual fruit.

In early 2013, the church experienced a time of trial and testing, during which they had no pastor. The Lord brought in another man to fill the shoes of the pastor. The Lord used this time in the church to grow the members and truly knit the heart of the people.

In late 2016, the church once again found themselves without a pastor. Although they did not have a pastor they continued serving the Lord faithfully praying for the one God would bring into the church to lead and direct them.

At the end of July 2017, the Lord brought a new shepherd into the fold, Dr Keith Taylor. Indian River Baptist Church is excited to see what the Lord has in store not only for the church, but for the entire community of Edgewater.
