The City of New Smyrna Beach and the Code Enforcement Department are combating wrongfully placed yard signs and are showing residents how to display signs correctly. Yard signs are a popular way to help get the word out, whether for an open house, garage sale, or political campaign.
According to a release, residents should place signs on private property with the owner's permission and public property as expressly permitted by the appropriate governing body. Any signage that includes pennants, ribbons, streamers, spinners, or wind-operated devices is not allowed.
Signs found to be in violation will be removed by Code Enforcement officers.
