The New Smyrna Beach Pickleball Club (NSBPC) has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to community recreation by contributing $16,395 to enhance the local sports facilities. The club's generous donations of $7,000 for court restriping at Detwiler Park and $9,395 for infrastructure improvements at the Live Oak Cultural Center have garnered praise from city officials and recreational enthusiasts.

On June 8, Leisure Services Director Robert Salazar and Zone 2 Commissioner Lisa Martin stood united in gratitude as they accepted the substantial contribution for Detwiler Park, situated at 701 Oakwood Ave. This gesture has facilitated the restriping of the westernmost courts, resulting in a remarkable expansion of pickleball capacity. Previously accommodating three simultaneous games, these courts have now been transformed to accommodate up to six games, effectively doubling the recreational potential for players. The event also marked the club's joyous celebration of its first anniversary, marked by a convivial potluck lunch and open play.

Subsequently, on August 9, Director Salazar was once again at the forefront, this time joined by Zone 1 Commissioner Valli Perrine, to receive a significant contribution earmarked for the Live Oak Cultural Center at 1050 Live Oak St. The NSB Pickleball Club's donation of $9,395 will bring about substantial improvements to the facility. A strategically placed gate in the northwest corner of the courts will allow players to seamlessly access the courts without disrupting ongoing games. Furthermore, a concrete pad will be installed beneath a nearby picnic table, effectively mitigating the transfer of dirt and debris onto the playing surface.

City officials expressed their deep appreciation for the NSB Pickleball Club's altruism, acknowledging that such contributions significantly enhance the quality of recreational experiences for residents and visitors alike. These improvements demonstrate the club's dedication to the sport but underline its commitment to fostering a supportive and welcoming recreational environment within the community.
