New Smyrna Beach will hold a public forum on March 3, 2022, on Thursday, March 3, at 5:30 p.m. in the James W. Hathaway Chambers off Sams Avenue. The meeting will allow the city to discuss enhancements on drainage concerns and road resurfacing along Barracuda Boulevard.
There are two design concepts:
- Alternate one features a green median bioswale and removes existing trees to the east.
- Alternate two paves the entire roadway width and sets bioswales to the sides.
Bioswales are channels to concentrate and move stormwater runoff while removing debris and pollution and can be beneficial in recharging groundwater.
