USFS honors Volusia County Fire Rescue for decade-long training partnership.

In a significant acknowledgment of joint efforts in enhancing firefighting skills and emergency response readiness, the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) recently honored Volusia County Fire Rescue (VCFR) for their exceptional decade-long partnership. The collaboration has played a pivotal role in advancing nationwide preparedness within the firefighting and emergency response domains.

The commemoration took place during a joint training event from October 23 to 27, where the USFS marked the enduring alliance between the two organizations.

“This facility is beautiful and hosts a structure fire school here for Daytona State College,” said USFS Lead Instructor Alan Kirby. “They have multiple classrooms adjacent to woodlands, convenient for indoor workshops and outdoor exercises for a balanced learning environment.”

The core principle underlying this recognition emphasizes the essential nature of partnerships not only during training sessions but also in the context of real-time emergency responses. Throughout the week-long training, firefighters participated in diverse tabletop exercises and hands-on demonstrations involving new equipment and simulated scenarios. These activities aimed to bolster their preparedness and response capabilities in the face of evolving challenges.
