Volusia County Animal Services proudly announces the completion of 50,000 surgeries through its trap-neuter-return (TNR) and low-cost spay/neuter programs, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to manage community cat populations and promote responsible pet ownership.

This remarkable achievement is attributed to the success of Volusia County's state-of-the-art spay/neuter clinic, which opened its doors in late 2016 at 1250 Indian Lake Road, Daytona Beach. The cutting-edge facility has been a pivotal force in providing affordable and reduced-fee animal sterilization services to residents and contributing to bettering animal welfare in the region.

"The collaborative effort involving animal welfare organizations, volunteers, and the community at large underscores our shared commitment to responsible animal welfare," said Angela Miedema, Director of Animal Services.

This accomplishment reflects Volusia County's unwavering dedication to the well-being of community pets and its commitment to controlling feline and canine populations, preventing overpopulation-related issues, and reducing the burden on local shelters.

The trap-neuter-return (TNR) initiative, a core component of the county's strategy, involves trapping, sterilizing, and returning feral cats to control community cat populations while ensuring their well-being. In addition to TNR, Volusia County Animal Services offers low-cost spay/neuter services available to Volusia County residents by appointment only.
