Volusia County has contracted with Family Health Source to open a drive-thru COVID-19 testing site at the Volusia County Fairgrounds in DeLand to counteract the increased demand for testing.
The site will open to the public on Monday, January 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Staff will offer tests and vaccinations every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The antigen testing only will be available for anyone ages one or up, and PCR tests are not available at the drive-thru test site. A text message will provide the results within thirty minutes of the test.
Family Health Source provides free checks, and insurance will not be required. Staff will request those with insurance for their information during the online registration. However, there will be no copay or coinsurance.
Unlike insurance, pre-registration and a photo ID is necessary. The registration portal for Monday appointments will open this Sunday, January 9.
The portal will then reopen in the following order:
- Monday registration for Tuesday appointments
- Tuesday registration for Thursday appointments
- Thursday registration for Friday appointments
- Sunday registration for Monday appointments
Access the portal by going to the Family Health Source website at www.myfhs.org/.
“With the increasing number of people seeking to get tested, this new site should help alleviate the pressure and excess demand that some of the other sites have been experiencing,” said Volusia County Interim Public Protection Director Mark Swanson. “We’re hopeful that the spike in new cases will subside soon. But in the meantime, we want to increase our county’s testing capacity and provide residents with another option for receiving COVID-related services.”
Moderna and Pfizer booster shots will also be available at the test site. Visitors can enter through the Fairgrounds entrance off Prevatt Avenue.
The site will close for Martin Luther King Jr. day, on Monday, January 17.
