Volusia County participates in Beach Safety Week to promote summer safety.

Volusia County Beach Safety and Ocean Rescue Division has announced the launch of Beach Safety Week, beginning today, Monday, May 22, 2023. This initiative promotes safety awareness among beachgoers and provides essential tips for a successful and secure beach experience throughout the summer, with daily safety information being shared across social media to educate and prepare visitors for their beach outings.

The division invites the public to attend a special proclamation presentation on Tuesday, May 23, at 9 a.m. at Beach Safety Headquarters, 515 South Atlantic Avenue in Daytona Beach. 

As the weekend approaches, beachgoers should remain vigilant due to the persistent threat of rip currents. The safest way to enjoy the water is always in front of a staffed lifeguard tower. For up-to-date information on water conditions and the locations of lifeguard stations, individuals can refer to the Volusia Beaches mobile app, which is updated daily.
