Storm debris removal for the unincorporated areas of Volusia County and county-maintained roadways within city or town municipal limits should be complete by Friday, December 9, 2022. If residents have any remaining debris that needs to be collected, they should call the County’s debris hotline number, at 800-291-1205, by December 7.

According to a release, vegetative debris must be separate from construction or demolition debris and does not include bagged debris, electronics, and hazardous debris (like paint and tires).

After December 9, implementation of residential waste collection rules will apply, and any residence in unincorporated Volusia County shall follow the guidelines below to ensure collection after December 9:

  • Garbage pickup service includes the blue 95-gallon cart and two additional 32-gallon-size containers.
  • Recycling
  • Yard trash pickup service is limited to 4 cubic yards per week, and tree limbs may not exceed 4 feet in length or 1 foot in diameter. Cans and limbs must weigh less than 60 pounds.
  • Whole trees cut or blown down are NOT included in yard trash service.
  • Collection for bulky items is limited to 4 pieces per week and includes furniture, mattresses, appliances, carpet, boxes of “junk,” tires (with or without rims), swing sets, water heaters, equipment, or the like, and collected on the scheduled garbage collection day.
  • Carpets must be cut, rolled, and tied (or taped) in bundles no greater than 4' x 8' and no more than 60 pounds in weight.
  • Construction and demolition debris (aluminum siding, tile, screening, and drywall) is not a part of residential waste collection services. Homeowners are responsible for disposal.

Residents within the incorporated limits of a town or a city should check with their solid waste department for information and guidelines about waste collection.
