The City of New Smyrna Beach is proud to announce that three new self-watering planters were installed at the corner of Rush and Canal Street, marking the first of twenty-seven flowerpots to be installed along Canal Street with input from area business merchants.

According to a release, the planters feature a diverse array of plant species, including Succulents, Sedum Golden, a Majesty Palm, Persian Shield, Purslane, Kalanchoe, Dianella Flax Lily, Ice Plant, Snake Plant, Tropicanna Canna Lily, variegated English Ivy, Creeping Jenny, and Cordyline 'Red Star.'

New Smyrna Beach City Officials would like to thank Parks Division Supervisor John Haverly, Irrigation Specialist John Casagni, Equipment Operators Ernie Berndt and Roman Escalvon, and Playground Specialist Brandon Givinsky.

Self watering planters
Love this idea! Our cute town needs much more landscaping. This will really beautify Canal and people will want to spend more time there in the shops. In my opinion one of the reasons people flock around the corkscrew restaurant because it is so beautiful with the lush plantings. Would love to see palms line the South causeway as people came into town?would be so welcoming?
