Volusia County Sheriff’s Deputies, firefighters, and witnesses worked together on Tuesday afternoon to help pull an unconscious woman from a partially submerged SUV in Oak Hill.

According to a release, the SUV veered off Maytown Road west of Cedar Chase Road around 12:20 p.m. and was found submerged on its driver's side within a ditch filled with about three feet of water. The female driver was still inside the vehicle and unconscious.

With everyone working together, those on the scene got the car upright, pulling the driver to safety.

First responders found a pulse and began administering life-saving measures to the driver. She was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach and listed in critical condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

The Florida Highway Patrol is handling the crash investigation.
